Frequently asked questions

General answers to the questions I hear most often. For your concrete situation, a consultation is best.

How long does a divorce take?

It depends on the path. Divorce by agreement can be finalized in a few weeks; a judicial one, especially with children or disputes, can take from a few months to over a year. I give you an estimate for your situation at the consultation.

The insurer offered me too little. What can I do?

You are not required to accept the first offer. You can contest the amount and, if negotiation fails, take the insurer to court for full compensation — material and moral damages, plus interest. Keep all documents and expert reports.

What documents do I need for asset division?

Usually: ownership documents, the marriage or divorce certificate (as the case may be), IDs, and any evidence of each party’s contribution. The exact list depends on the assets — we establish it at the consultation.

How is the fee set?

Based on the complexity of the case, estimated time, and type of dispute. It can be fixed, by stage, or with a success component. I communicate the fee transparently, in writing, before we begin.

Must I attend every hearing in person?

Most of the time, no. Under a power of attorney I can represent you at hearings. In some situations the court requires your presence (e.g. questioning) — I let you know in advance.

How long do I have to claim damages after an accident?

There are limitation periods (generally 3 years for damages, with possible specifics). The sooner you act, the stronger the evidence. We check the applicable deadline for your situation at the consultation.
